In this lesson Trevor and Nathan are discussing how to properly rig a paddle raft for single day trips. This lesson will lay the foundation of concepts for how to rig a paddle raft for a variety of configurations. Specifically, we will be focusing on:

  • Proper gear placement

  • Where to place hard objects

  • Preventing injury by planning for where paddlers will sit

  • Thwart adjustments

  • Setting up straps safely

There are several systems that specifically address individual concerns for paddle boating along with various regional differences, however this lesson will give you a strong foundation to create system that works for you. The skills we discuss in this lesson can be built upon to help you efficiently rig full multi-day paddle boat or r2 setups, which we will cover in advanced rigging lessons.

  • A Boat Bag and enough gear for a day trip

  • More straps than you can count
