In this lesson Trevor will be discussing how to properly deploy a throw bag on the river. Although there are a variety of ways to use a throw bag effectively this lesson is designed to help you understand the basics of throw bag use. Since this is a basic video we will not be diving deeper into the various throw methods, recoiling a bag for a second throw, or how to catch multiple swimmers.

This video is not intended as a replacement for proper swiftwater rescue training, it is designed to help you familiarize yourself with the concepts of throwbag use. Before you attempt to use any skills discussed in this video seek proper training in the equipment, nothing in this video should be considered adequate training for actual rescue scenarios.

What you’ll need
