Trip Report - Goodwin Canyon, Stanislaus River
Goodwin Canyon on the Stanislaus River is one of California's marquee fall trips. The river has carved a spectacular lush gorge out of the spectacular volcanic rock of the Central Sierra Nevada Foothills. Our team got out there to play on this great section of river for a little excitement and a lot of pretty canyon.
The one drawback to this river trip is the fact that it is unfortunately so short in length. Being only about 4 miles long and with only a hand full of rapids the section can feel pretty short, but what she lacks in miles she makes up for in the power of the rapids. If you are a decent paddler and you are interested in taking on the impressive rapids of this canyon there are commercial outfitters who offer some amazing day trips on this section of river. All in all we definitely recommend getting out on this river to feel the power of the rapids and enjoy stark terrain of this amazing canyon.
